Recently, a user reported an unexpected deduction of 1.84 million yuan from her Alipay account in the wee hours of the third night after she had disabled the payment function. The funds were donated to the 'Donate One Yuan, Share Love, and Provide Nutrition' campaign. Despite her three-year struggle to understand and rectify the situation, the reason behind the deduction remains unclear to her. A bank investigation unveiled that, although the Alipay account was barred from consumption or transfers after the payment function was disabled, it remained accessible for charitable donations. The foundation involved clarified that the donated funds had already been allocated to public welfare initiatives and the project had reached completion. Meanwhile, Alipay maintained that the donation behavior was conducted 'normally.' In response to the incident, Alipay stated that the platform had executed the payment instructions from the user's account in the usual manner. Given that the account in question might have been shared with others, the possibility of illegal criminal activity cannot be dismissed. Consequently, Alipay has reported the case to the police for further investigation.
