According to sources familiar with the matter, US defense technology startup Anduril is in discussions for a new multi-billion-dollar funding round, with a post-money valuation expected to reach at least $60 billion, nearly doubling from its valuation during the last private funding round in June last year. This funding round will support the company in building its first large-scale weapons manufacturing facility and investing in the development of autonomous fighter jets. With contracts from the US Department of Defense and its allies, Anduril's revenue is expected to double to approximately $2 billion last year, but it also faces significant cash burn. Founded eight years ago by former Palantir employees and virtual reality entrepreneur Palmer Luckey, the startup has raised billions of dollars over the years to develop or acquire modern software, drones, and submarines to secure government contracts. The Trump administration's favorable stance toward tech-savvy defense contractors positions Anduril for further growth. Meanwhile, the government is urging Anduril's larger, more established competitors to reduce stock buybacks and accelerate weapons deliveries.
