As trading drew to a close on February 14, the three principal US stock indices presented a mixed performance landscape. The Dow Jones Industrial Average eked out a 0.1% gain, while the Nasdaq Composite Index dipped by 0.22%, and the S&P 500 Index managed a marginal increase of 0.05%. The tech sector, particularly large-cap stocks, largely underperformed, with Nvidia and Apple experiencing declines exceeding 2%, and Google and Meta seeing drops of over 1%. The performance of well-known Chinese ADRs (American Depositary Receipts) was a mixed bag as well. Alibaba's shares fell by 1.89%, Pinduoduo saw a slight uptick of 0.06%, Baidu declined by 0.99%, JD.com dropped by 1.38%, and Tencent Holdings bucked the trend with a 1.35% increase.
