On February 22nd, Amazon unveiled its financial report, revealing a 10% year-on-year increase in revenue for the most recent quarter, amounting to $187.8 billion (roughly RMB 1.36 trillion). This achievement marked the first time Amazon surpassed Walmart, whose revenue stood at $180.6 billion (approximately RMB 1.31 trillion) for the same period. Despite Amazon's e-commerce platform already being three times the size of Walmart, this milestone holds symbolic significance. During the press conference, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy acknowledged the record-breaking holiday sales season and highlighted the exceptional performance of the AWS cloud business, which contributed approximately $28.8 billion (around RMB 208.949 billion), accounting for 15% of total revenue. This robust AWS performance emerged as a pivotal driver fueling the company's growth.
