S&P Global believes that the potential liabilities arising from artificial intelligence for large global tech companies may exceed currently known levels, but there is no need to adjust the credit ratings of relevant companies at present. The biggest risk to the ratings of hyperscale cloud service providers remains the failure to achieve expected profits, as these companies have associated financing structures that provide guarantees for large data center construction projects or small AI companies. S&P expects that from 2025 to 2030, the six largest hyperscale cloud service providers in the United States will spend over $7 trillion on data center and AI-related capital expenditures, and their free cash flow will remain negative for at least next year.
