Sources with knowledge of the situation have revealed that Microsoft is contemplating substantial cost cuts within its Azure cloud server leasing operations. Girish Bablani, who leads the Azure division, has directed the executives of his team to formulate strategies aimed at slashing costs by a minimum of 20%. At present, Microsoft has not finalized any specific cost-saving initiatives, and these plans are subject to change. It is still uncertain whether job cuts will be part of these measures. Despite Azure's accelerating revenue growth, the expenses associated with data centers have placed a significant financial strain on Microsoft. A spokesperson for Microsoft refuted these reports, labeling them as imprecise and lacking in thoroughness. In the meantime, Microsoft has outlined plans to expand its global data center capacity from around 12 gigawatts to more than 38 gigawatts by 2032, in an effort to address computing power shortages.
