On July 28, Meta and BlackRock announced the establishment of a joint venture to jointly develop and operate a data center campus in El Paso, Texas. Funds managed by BlackRock will hold an 80% stake in the joint venture, with Meta holding the remaining 20%. Both parties will make proportional capital contributions, totaling approximately $14 billion, for the construction of the campus and the development of long-term power, cooling, and connectivity infrastructure. Additionally, Meta will sign a lease agreement with the joint venture to rent the entire campus for an initial term of four years, with four renewal options extending the lease up to 20 years.
