As per the latest report released by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, propelled by the burgeoning demand for artificial intelligence computing capabilities, electricity consumption in U.S. data centers is anticipated to escalate to four times its current level by 2035. This surge will account for one-fifth (roughly 194 gigawatts) of the entire power generation in the United States, marking a substantial upward adjustment of 83% from the projection made in December of the previous year. Presently, data centers contribute to 5.9% of the total electricity consumption across the United States. This percentage is expected to climb to 12% by 2030 and subsequently reach 20% by 2035. In regions densely populated with data centers, such as Virginia and Texas, the proportion of electricity consumed will significantly surpass the national average.
