On Tuesday (local time), a consortium of seven companies operating within the power equipment and data center industry chain—notably including tech giants Google and Tesla—came together to establish the 'Grid Utilization Alliance' (dubbed 'Utilize'). This alliance is steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the U.S. power grid, with the overarching goals of slashing electricity costs and substantially boosting power load capacity. The alliance firmly believes that through the optimal utilization of the existing power grid infrastructure, it is possible to achieve savings exceeding $100 billion in electricity bills for U.S. consumers over the next ten years, while simultaneously unlocking a significant amount of additional electricity capacity. According to projections by S&P Global, the power demand from U.S. data centers is expected to surge to 75.8 gigawatts by 2026 and further escalate to 134.4 gigawatts by 2030.
