Amazon’s subsidiary, Amazon Data Services, is set to acquire the tech park situated in Ashburn, Virginia—a property owned by George Washington University—for a hefty sum of $427 million. The university made this announcement on Monday. According to the campus newspaper, the agreement grants Amazon the authority to establish data or information technology centers within the park, although Amazon has yet to issue any statements regarding the matter. George Washington University clarified that the agreement provides the institution with the option to persist in carrying out projects at the park over the forthcoming five-year period.
