Microsoft announced via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center that, starting March 31, 2026, the 'Contact Blocking' feature in Outlook will be disabled across desktop, mobile, and web platforms. This feature originally allowed users to prevent specific contacts from appearing in suggestion lists when composing emails. However, it caused user confusion and complaints because blocking a contact not only hid them in Outlook but also synced their removal across the entire Microsoft ecosystem. After the feature is disabled, Microsoft has not provided an alternative solution. Starting in April, blocked contacts will reappear in suggestion lists. Microsoft recommends that IT administrators update relevant documentation and train users to minimize disruptions to workflows.
