China Telecom has successfully constructed and fully put into operation the world's longest commercial hollow-core optical fiber cable. This optical cable boasts a total length of 110 kilometers, out of which 100 kilometers are dedicated to the hollow-core optical fiber section. It stands as the first cross-border hollow-core optical fiber cable that links Dongguan with the Hong Kong Securities Exchange Data Center.

Leveraging the OSU transmission system, an ultra-low latency communication channel has been established between the two locations. The bidirectional latency is as low as 0.93 milliseconds, setting a new industry benchmark for the lowest latency achieved. This project marks a significant cross-regional breakthrough in hollow-core fiber technology.

Compared to traditional solid-core fibers, this hollow-core fiber technology significantly reduces transmission latency by over 30%. Moreover, it offers ultra-low loss and ultra-low nonlinear effects, providing robust support for high-bandwidth transmission. Additionally, the implementation of the latest OSU technology has led to a 40% reduction in equipment latency. It also enables seamless, lossless elastic bandwidth adjustment ranging from 2M to 100G, catering to diverse transmission needs.
