On Monday, Foxconn revealed that its board of directors had given the green light to an equipment acquisition initiative, with a budget of up to $1.37 billion (roughly NT$42 billion). This substantial investment is earmarked for the in-house construction of an artificial intelligence computing cluster and a supercomputing center. The entire sum will be sourced from the company's internal funds, and the disbursement will occur in stages, spanning from December 2025 to December 2026. The primary objective is to bolster the infrastructure necessary for AI training, high-performance computing, and intelligent manufacturing. This, in turn, will provide robust support for the research and development endeavors in key business areas, including next-generation electric vehicles, digital health solutions, and robotics.
