As the competition for computing resources in the AI sector heats up, Google Cloud's business unit has clinched a substantial order from AI unicorn Anthropic. Anthropic is set to deepen its partnership with Google Cloud, securing access to as many as 1 million Google TPU chips. These chips will bolster the training and deployment of its next-generation Claude models. According to Morgan Stanley's assessment, the total value of this agreement could soar into the tens of billions of dollars, with the deal potentially extending over six years and being valued between $50 billion and $80 billion. This transaction not only stands as a major vote of confidence in Google's AI cloud strategy but also signals that Google Cloud's revenue will experience accelerated growth starting in 2026. It is anticipated that by 2027, it will consistently generate annual revenue in the range of $9 billion to $13 billion. Previously, AWS served as a crucial infrastructure provider for Anthropic. However, Google Cloud's entry into the scene has disrupted AWS's once-exclusive hold, casting doubts externally on AWS's technological edge and other facets. Moreover, the computing power workload supplied by Google Cloud is primarily geared towards the 'inference' realm, and it is blazing a trail for differentiated competition through its tailored AI chips.
