On October 21 (local time), Meta, in collaboration with a fund overseen by Blue Owl Capital, unveiled the formation of a joint venture aimed at the joint development of the Hyperion data center campus situated in Louisiana, U.S. In this venture, Meta will secure a 20% ownership stake, whereas the fund managed by Blue Owl Capital will command an 80% stake. The financial responsibilities for the overall development expenses, estimated at around $27 billion, will be divided between the two entities in accordance with their respective stakes. This allocation encompasses not only the construction of the campus facilities but also the long-term provision of power, cooling systems, and connectivity infrastructure. Specifically, the fund under Blue Owl Capital's management will contribute approximately $7 billion in cash to the joint venture. Conversely, Meta will be entitled to a lump-sum payment of nearly $3 billion.
