Microsoft has recently embarked on a fresh round of layoffs. On the very first day following the National Day holiday, certain team members at Microsoft's Shanghai office were notified via email about organizational optimization and restructuring efforts, with the Azure cloud business team being the primary focus. The severance package for those affected by this round of layoffs is structured as N+4, excluding any additional signing bonuses. The precise details of this package are still under discussion with the Human Resources department.

Previously, Microsoft had presented employees with the option to relocate to Australia for work. Those who declined this opportunity faced layoffs. Since the onset of this year, Microsoft has implemented several rounds of layoffs. Starting from May, the company has laid off over 15,000 employees, with roughly 6,000 being let go in May and about 9,000 in July. Layoffs also took place in June, August, and September, impacting the Azure cloud business, global sales, and engineering technology teams. The severance package for the layoffs in July was N+4+1 (+2), with employees who signed the agreement before July 11 receiving a compensation of N+7.
