Presently, the critical areal density metrics have achieved the necessary benchmarks, allowing Western Digital to initiate sample shipments in quantities ranging from several hundred to a few thousand units. Nonetheless, the company does not anticipate commencing mass production to fulfill actual orders before 2027. It plans to undertake customer certification processes in the latter half of 2026.
