The General Office of the People's Government of Hubei Province has released a document, putting forward a plan to drive the transformation and upgrading of data centers towards green and intelligent development. The outlined measures advocate for entities involved in data center construction to ramp up the utilization of cutting-edge storage technologies and pursue upgrades to flash-based storage systems. Simultaneously, the government encourages the involvement of market-oriented professional entities in the establishment of national green data centers, with qualifying projects being added to the province's green industry project repository. Furthermore, the document urges the National Registration and Settlement System for Carbon Emission Rights (China Carbon Registry) and the Hubei Carbon Exchange Center to partner with research institutions in exploring carbon efficiency models tailored for data centers. Qualified data centers will be integrated into the management framework of Hubei's pilot carbon market, fostering green development through market-driven approaches. It is anticipated that by 2027, the adoption rate of advanced storage technologies across the province will surpass 40%, and the proportion of green electricity consumption in newly-built data centers will exceed 80%.
