On May 15, the Bureau of Industry and Security, an arm of the US Department of Commerce, declared that the global use of Huawei's Ascend chips violates US export controls. In response, He Yongqian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce, stated that the US action constitutes an abuse of export control measures and imposes unjustifiable restrictions on Chinese chip products. This move seriously infringes upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, jeopardizes the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain, and undermines market regulations and the international economic and trade order. He Yongqian underscored that such a step by the US is detrimental to the long-term mutually beneficial cooperation and development of enterprises from both countries. China urges the US to promptly rectify its mistake and vows to take decisive measures to safeguard the rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
