On October 22, Nikkei brought to light that Scott DeBoer, who holds the position of Chief Technology and Product Officer at Micron Technology, revealed that the company has been assessing 4F² memory technology for more than two decades. However, as of now, it has no intentions of implementing this technology. Instead, Micron is set to propel its current technology blueprint forward and concentrate its efforts on the creation of next-generation 3D DRAM. DeBoer is of the opinion that 4F² technology is both intricate and expensive, offering only a handful of practical benefits. In contrast, he sees 3D DRAM as harboring significantly greater potential for growth and advancement.
