On September 10, it was reported that due to the skyrocketing costs of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), prominent Chinese AI chip manufacturers, including Huawei, Cambricon, MetaX, and Iluvatar CoreX, have implemented price increases for both their current and upcoming generations of AI chips. Notably, the listed price for Huawei's Ascend 950DT accelerator card has surged to over RMB 250,000, marking a significant rise of up to 50% compared to its price just two months prior. Similarly, Cambricon's next-generation chip has seen its price escalate by 20% to 30%. The cost of older chip models from Huawei has also experienced an uptick. For instance, the Ascend 950PR accelerator card, which was priced around RMB 60,000 at the beginning of the year, has now climbed to over RMB 80,000. In response, Cambricon clarified that it has not officially announced any price hikes and urged investors to consult official sources for accurate information.
