On September 7th, news emerged indicating a shortage of CPO equipment. HIWIN Technologies Corp., the world's second-largest producer of ball screws, noted that the rapid commercialization of silicon photonics has sparked a significant uptick in demand for associated packaging and testing equipment. This has resulted in a constrained supply of certain critical equipment and precision components. Despite this, international customers persist in placing additional orders, and the shortage has now extended beyond equipment to encompass the sectors of precision transmission and positioning platforms. In addition to HIWIN, equipment manufacturers like TBI Motion, HSD, HIWIN MIKROSYSTEM, GTM, and TOYO are also running at full tilt, necessitating overtime work to keep up with the burgeoning demand.
