Nikkei Asia reports that, in response to the soaring demand for AI infrastructure, which has triggered a memory chip shortage, prominent PC makers HP, ASUS, and Acer have initiated a cautious shift towards incorporating DRAM chips from ChangXin Storage Technologies. Insiders with knowledge of the situation disclosed that these PC giants finalized the certification process for ChangXin's memory chips around mid-year and have commenced integrating them, albeit in limited quantities, into their laptop ranges. At present, these chips are predominantly earmarked for laptops sold in markets outside the U.S., with the affected models and volumes being relatively restricted. ChangXin Storage is currently focusing on fulfilling the demands of its Chinese clientele. Meanwhile, PC manufacturers tread carefully, concerned that a broad adoption of ChangXin's chips might strain their ties with key global memory chip suppliers.
