On July 23, 2026, LG Energy Solution, a titan in the South Korean battery industry, initiated a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States against Chinese lithium-ion battery producer EVE Energy through its patent management entity, Tulip Innovation. Concurrently, it lodged an import exclusion petition with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). The legal action encompasses five patents: four pertaining to cylindrical battery designs featuring polarity-free technology, and one related to separators (also known as isolation films). LG Energy Solution alleges that batteries manufactured by EVE Energy, which allegedly infringe upon these patents, have been extensively utilized in the U.S. power tool sector. In reaction, EVE Energy has stated that, thus far, it has not been served with official legal papers.
