In light of the most recent industry updates, Intel Foundry is in the process of clinching crucial customer orders. As per reports, NVIDIA intends to assign a segment of the production for its next-generation AI GPU architecture, internally named "Feynman", to Intel Foundry. This assignment encompasses the fabrication of the I/O Die wafers (leveraging Intel's 18A or 14A process technology) and roughly 25% of the sophisticated packaging work (employing Intel's EMIB technology). The remaining tasks are still slated to be managed by TSMC. This partnership is anticipated to kick off in 2028, with the dual objectives of mitigating supply chain risks and adhering to the manufacturing policy mandates within the United States. For Intel, this endeavor could potentially rank among its most substantial foundry undertakings to date. It would contribute to boosting capacity utilization and refining the maturity of its advanced processes (like 18A/14A). Moreover, Intel has recently secured design orders for its 18A/14A processes from industry giants such as AMD, Microsoft, and Google. The revenue generated from its foundry business has witnessed a 31% year-on-year increase. However, the company's overall operations still grapple with the challenge of restoring profitability.
