On the evening of July 16, Montage Technology released a statement revealing that, on July 15, the Fair Trade Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in South Korea carried out an on-site search and evidence collection at its South Korean office. This action was taken due to the suspicion of potential violations of antitrust regulations. The company is extending its full cooperation in the investigation. As of now, it has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and its business operations continue to run smoothly without any disruptions.
Meanwhile, South Korean prosecutors also conducted raids on the South Korean offices of Japan's Renesas Electronics and the US-based Rambus. The purpose of these raids was to ascertain whether these three leading global memory interface chip companies had engaged in collusion regarding semiconductor component prices.
A representative from the securities division of Montage Technology stated that the company has consistently adhered to regulatory requirements in its operations. It will actively cooperate with the ongoing investigation, and currently, its overall business operations remain normal.
In 2024, the memory interconnect market exhibits a high degree of concentration. These three companies collectively command a 93.4% market share. Among them, Montage Technology holds the top global position with a 36.8% share. Given that the investigation is still in progress, the company is unable to predict the duration or the final outcome. However, it will closely monitor the situation and fulfill its obligations for timely information disclosure. Additionally, it reminds investors to remain cautious and be mindful of potential risks.
