A federal jury in Texas, United States, ruled on Thursday that Kioxia Corporation infringed on a flash memory-related patent owned by ViaSat, Inc., and ordered it to pay $229 million in damages. The jury in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas determined that Kioxia infringed on ViaSat's U.S. Patent No. 8,615,700. According to the verdict, the damages amounting to $229,025,021 represent ongoing royalty fees to compensate for Kioxia's past infringement up to March 30, 2026.
