Kevin Zhang, Senior Vice President of TSMC, recently disclosed that the market enthusiasm for its 2-nanometer (N2) process node has far exceeded expectations, with tape-out volumes reaching four times that of the previous-generation 3-nanometer (N3) node during the same period, indicating that numerous long-term strategic partners have shifted their R&D focus to the 2nm process. This surge in tape-out volumes is attributed to the introduction of TSMC's first-ever Gate-All-Around Field-Effect Transistor (GAAFET) technology, which enables the N2 process to deliver a 15% performance improvement at constant power or a 30% reduction in power consumption at the same performance level. As the number of customers transitioning to 2nm surges, TSMC's quarterly revenue is expected to grow further. The exponential increase in tape-out volumes will serve as a key engine driving overall revenue growth.
