According to Bank of America's latest analysis, by 2028, SK Hynix's actual new production capacity for memory chips is projected to be merely one-sixth of its original plan. This projection is attributed to factors including the shutdown of aging facilities, technological advancements, and process miniaturization. This evaluation not only casts doubt on the South Korean government's capacity expansion initiatives but also serves as crucial evidence in a class-action lawsuit accusing DRAM price manipulation. In reality, South Korea's annual growth in operational memory wafer production capacity is less than 10%, significantly lagging behind the "double production capacity by 2030" target set by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. This discrepancy directly affects supply expectations within the DRAM market.
