AI chip startup SambaNova has recently secured a fresh round of funding amounting to $1 billion, propelling its post-investment valuation to a staggering $11 billion. This financing round was spearheaded by General Atlantic, with notable contributions from entities like Seligman Ventures. Earlier in the year, the company had already amassed over $350 million in financial backing and forged a strategic alliance with Intel. SambaNova's focus lies on its SN50 chip, which is tailored for AI inference tasks, and it provides on-premises deployment options, enabling clients to set up servers within their own data centers. JPMorgan Chase has already incorporated its system for local inference operations. The CEO of the company mentioned that they are vigorously gearing up for a U.S. IPO in 2027. Presently, a multitude of AI chip startups that are taking on Nvidia are enjoying capital inflows, and the semiconductor segment in the secondary market is enjoying significant popularity, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index soaring nearly 80% since the start of the year. On the same day, South Korean AI chip startup Rebellions also unveiled its intentions to go public in Korea in 2027. Last year, Nvidia inked a technology licensing pact with inference chip company Groq.
