Samsung had initially laid out plans to commence mass production of its 1.4nm process in 2027. However, the company has since recalibrated its strategy, choosing to focus on enhancing the yield rate of its 2nm process first. Consequently, the mass production timeline for the 1.4nm process has been pushed back to 2029. Given that Apple aims to make a direct leap from the 2nm to the 1.4nm process within a two-year span to mitigate the capacity and cost challenges posed by AI, Samsung is poised to emerge as a pivotal choice in Apple's dual-supply strategy for wafer foundry services.
