Bernstein analysts noted in a research report that the pressure of memory chip price increases may shift from the consumer electronics sector to the AI sector. Affected by the shift in HBM supply to support AI computing, traditional DRAM prices have surged significantly in recent quarters, while HBM prices have remained unchanged due to annual contract constraints. Currently, memory chip suppliers are negotiating with GPU/XPU companies for HBM price increases in 2027 to narrow the profit margin gap with traditional DRAM.
