The European Commission unveiled the 'European Package for Technological Sovereignty' this week, introducing new regulations to foster the development of domestic industries in chips, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, reduce reliance on U.S. technology, and enhance Europe's digital strategic autonomy. The package includes two legislative proposals—the 'Act on the Development of Cloud and Artificial Intelligence' and the 'Chips Act 2.0'—as well as an 'Open Source Strategy' and a 'Strategic Roadmap for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in the Energy Sector,' all aimed at boosting Europe's autonomy and resilience in critical technology sectors.
