Japanese bathroom fixtures manufacturer TOTO anticipates that chip-related business expenditures will exceed half of the company's total capital expenditures in the coming years, aiming to tap into new growth opportunities amid the AI boom. Currently, the global AI investment craze has significantly increased demand for TOTO's ceramic materials among chip equipment manufacturers, driving sales growth of chip manufacturing materials such as electrostatic chucks. TOTO's Chief Technology Officer stated that they will establish a production system capable of meeting the demand. Following the completion of large-scale expansion plans in the US and China, the proportion of capital expenditures between residential equipment and new business areas will reverse. In the fiscal year ending March this year, TOTO's expenditures on semiconductor-related products accounted for 11% of its capital expenditures.
