According to the latest research from TrendForce, starting in the latter half of 2025, there will be a notable uptick in the prices of commodity DRAM. This price surge underscores a market scenario where demand is outstripping supply. Nevertheless, due to the annual pricing negotiation framework adopted by the three leading DRAM producers, HBM contract prices have been slow to mirror the quarterly price hikes prevalent in the market.
As we approach the second quarter of 2026, discussions between buyers and sellers are intensifying around the supply of HBM4, the flagship product slated for 2027. TrendForce's analysis posits that, considering the ongoing supply shortage in the DRAM sector, coupled with the production hurdles and substantial costs linked to both legacy and cutting-edge HBM generations, the three primary manufacturers are poised to significantly hike HBM prices by 2027.
