On May 6th, Musk's SpaceX submitted an application to Grimes County, Texas, USA, outlining a proposal to invest a substantial $55 billion in the construction of a semiconductor manufacturing plant, dubbed Terafab. Upon full completion, the total investment in this ambitious project is projected to soar to $119 billion, potentially marking it as one of the most significant private investments in semiconductors in U.S. history. The plant is designed to cater to the burgeoning demand for autonomous chip production capabilities from SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI, with a particular emphasis on bolstering sectors such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and AI computing for Starlink satellites.
