On April 22, according to foreign media reports, Apple's (AAPL.O) next CEO, John Ternus, faces a significant challenge upon assuming his new role: retaining top talent during a period of personnel changes. After several years of relative stability, Apple has recently experienced a wave of departures involving executives and grassroots engineers. Ternus, who will succeed Tim Cook as CEO in September, faces the primary task of stabilizing the workforce. Late last year, Apple's chip business head, Johny Srouji, considered leaving, but Apple successfully retained him by offering a new compensation package and a broader role—the company's first Chief Hardware Officer. Ternus also needs to address potential departures of other executives, including Mike Rockwell and several long-term leaders approaching retirement.
