Belgium's microelectronics research center Imec has announced that Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, will be awarded the 2026 Imec Lifetime Innovation Award in recognition of his contributions to the fields of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence. The award highlights Huang's pivotal role in the development of GPU technology—originally designed as specialized processors for gaming, these GPUs have now become the core infrastructure for modern computing and AI workloads, driving transformation across a wide range of sectors from healthcare to manufacturing. The award ceremony will take place during the Imec ITF World conference, held from May 19 to 20, 2026, in Antwerp, Belgium.
