Taiwan-based semiconductor company Powerchip Technology Corporation announced that it will sell its P5 wafer fab located in the Tongluo Science Park, Miaoli County, to Micron for US$1.8 billion (approximately RMB 12.438 billion). While the facilities are being transferred to Micron, the two companies will also collaborate on HBM and PWF foundry services at Powerchip's Hsinchu site. The chairman of Powerchip stated that the 3D AI Foundry Business Unit will enrich its technology portfolio through foundry services and enhance DRAM technology to increase wafer foundry output value. With Powerchip's cooperation, Micron will accelerate the installation of advanced DRAM production lines at the Tongluo facility. Currently, Powerchip has begun adjusting equipment configurations at its Hsinchu site and relocating equipment from the Tongluo fab.
