On March 16, 2026, the performance of the three major A-share indices diverged at the market close. The Shanghai Composite Index finished at 4,084.79 points, experiencing a slight decline of 0.26%. In contrast, the Shenzhen Component Index rose to 14,307.58 points, marking a 0.19% increase, while the ChiNext Index surged to 3,357.02 points, up by 1.41%. Notably, the semiconductor sector witnessed a significant rally, with Demingli and GigaDevice reaching their daily limit. Additionally, Hua Hong Semiconductor and BIWIN saw their share prices surge by over 10%. The shipping and automotive sectors also strengthened, with China Merchants Nanyou hitting the daily limit, COSCO Shipping Energy climbing by over 7%, and BYD advancing nearly 5%.
