Hua Hong Group, China’s second-largest wafer foundry, is stepping up efforts to achieve mass production of 7nm process technology. This development represents a significant stride forward in China’s advanced chip manufacturing industry and underscores Beijing’s enduring commitment to technological self-sufficiency. According to multiple informed sources, HLMC, a subsidiary of Hua Hong Group, is currently preparing its Shanghai-based wafer fabrication plant for the production of 7nm technology, with the ambition to manufacture high-performance products, including artificial intelligence chips. With this move, Hua Hong is poised to become the second domestic chip foundry, following SMIC, capable of mass-producing 7nm chips.
