According to sources familiar with the matter, U.S. chip equipment manufacturer Lam Research is in discussions with Dutch semiconductor equipment firm BESI regarding a potential acquisition, with Applied Materials also identified as a potential bidder. Previously, Applied Materials acquired a 9% stake in BESI in April 2025, becoming its largest shareholder. Currently, BESI has a market value of €14 billion (approximately $16.2 billion).
