At the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Intel made an announcement: it is set to introduce a new chip along with a supporting platform. This move represents an intensified investment by Intel in the gaming hardware sector, with a particular emphasis on the portable gaming device market.
The platform is constructed around the 3rd Gen Intel Core processor, codenamed 'Panther Lake'. It encompasses both hardware and software elements. 'Panther Lake' stands out as the inaugural product to harness Intel's 18A process technology. This technology incorporates RibbonFET fully surrounding gate transistors and PowerVia backside power delivery technology, resulting in a substantial boost in both energy efficiency and performance.
The platform will also feature chips that are specifically tailored for handheld gaming devices. Intel has indicated that it will disclose further details about these new products later in the year.
