At the '2025 Huawei Day' conference, Wang Jian, CEO of Huawei Korea, revealed that Huawei is set to introduce its cutting-edge AI chip, the 'Ascend 950,' to the South Korean market in 2026. Leveraging this technological advancement, Huawei is poised to make a significant foray into South Korea's AI infrastructure sector, providing AI computing cards and all-encompassing data center solutions. This strategic initiative is designed to offer South Korean businesses an alternative to NVIDIA, thereby breaking NVIDIA's current monopoly in the region. The Ascend 950 will be available in two variants: the PR and DT models, each tailored for specific use cases. The PR model is optimized for pre-filling and recommendation tasks, while the DT model excels in inference decoding and training scenarios. Notably, the chip's innovative design, which decouples compute power from storage, enables a cost reduction of over 30% per chip. Additionally, Huawei intends to prioritize cluster deployment, offering end-to-end services that span both hardware and software, directly addressing the needs of South Korean enterprise clients.
