According to the latest data released by John Peddie Research (JPR), in the third quarter of 2025, global shipments of client CPUs witnessed a 2.2% sequential increase (that is, compared to the second quarter of the same year). However, on a year-on-year basis (compared to the third quarter of 2024), there was a 2.2% decline. The primary driving force behind this quarterly growth was Microsoft's discontinuation of support for Windows 10. This move compelled users to upgrade their hardware to ensure compatibility with Windows 11. Additionally, uncertainties surrounding tariff policies also cast a shadow over the market in the previous period. JPR anticipates that the growth momentum in the client CPU market will taper off in the fourth quarter. During the same timeframe, the server CPU market exhibited robust performance, with a 2.7% sequential increase and a remarkable 13.6% year-on-year surge.
