As reported by ETNews, Samsung Electronics has outlined a strategic management objective for its wafer foundry arm, targeting a return to profitability by 2027 and aiming to capture a 20% market share in terms of sales. Since 2022, Samsung Electronics' wafer foundry operations have been operating at a loss, a situation attributed to the scarcity of external contracts for advanced-node technologies. Industry experts have estimated that the quarterly losses have ranged from KRW 1 trillion to KRW 2 trillion. Nevertheless, with Tesla placing significant orders for advanced processes and the anticipated revenue boost from the Taylor wafer plant in Texas, there is optimism that Samsung's wafer foundry business will witness a turnaround. This positive outlook has paved the way for Samsung to establish these ambitious goals.
