On November 12, SK Keyfoundry, a dedicated 8-inch pure-play foundry based in South Korea, revealed that it is expediting its efforts in the development of silicon carbide (SiC) compound power semiconductor technology. In a recent strategic move, the company has successfully finalized the acquisition of SK Powertech, a prominent entity in the SiC domain. SK Keyfoundry emphasized that it is intensifying its R&D endeavors in relevant technologies, with the ambition to unveil a 1200V process technology tailored for SiC MOSFETs by the close of 2025. Moreover, the company has set its sights on launching an SiC power semiconductor foundry business within the initial six months of 2026.
