In November 2025, Intel filed a lawsuit in the federal court of Washington State against its former employee, Jinfeng Luo (phonetic translation), accusing him of multiple attempts and ultimately succeeding in downloading approximately 18,000 confidential company documents on the eve of his departure, with a significant number of them marked as 'top-secret'. Luo had been working as a software development engineer at Intel since 2014. The company notified him on July 7 that his employment would be terminated on July 31. On July 23, Luo's first attempt to copy files to an external hard drive was intercepted, but five days later, he successfully downloaded them using other devices. After discovering this, Intel launched an investigation but was unable to contact Luo for more than three months. Consequently, Intel filed the lawsuit, demanding compensation for at least $250,000 in losses and related legal fees, as well as applying for an injunction to prohibit him from disclosing or using the company's confidential information.
