On November 6, 2025, during the Wuzhen Summit, the Leading Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of the 2025 World Internet Conference was unveiled. The project, named "Key Technologies and Applications of Practical, Large-Scale, High-Speed, Programmable Photonic Quantum Computing Chips," was a collaborative effort between the Wuxi Photonic Chip Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Turing Quantum. This project emerged as the standout among more than 400 scientific and technological achievements submitted by 34 countries globally, securing the conference's highest accolade. This achievement marks a historic moment, as it is the first time a quantum computing project has been honored with this award since the conference's inception, highlighting China's significant international breakthrough in the realm of chip-based and engineering applications for photonic quantum computing. The project leverages well-established semiconductor micro-nano fabrication techniques to densely integrate a multitude of optical components onto a 6-inch wafer, with a single chip housing over 1,000 integrated photonic devices. It has successfully surmounted the technological hurdles associated with mass-producing wafer-level thin-film lithium niobate photonic chips, paving the way for chip-based integration of photonic quantum systems.
