The JEDEC Solid State Technology Association has announced a new version of its Universal Flash Storage (UFS) standard—UFS 5.0. Designed specifically for high-performance, low-power mobile applications and computing systems, UFS 5.0 is planned to offer faster data access speeds and improved performance compared to its predecessor, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 10.8 GB/s, while maintaining compatibility with UFS 4.x hardware.
